| Sea Kayaking is one of the better ways to view the splendour of Phang Nga Bay while keeping fit at the same time. There are a number of kayaking companies that hire out kayaks (canoes) on an individual basis or offer tours of the area. Visit this site for further information on sea kayaking in Phang Nga.
Rock Climbing can be done in the nearby province of Krabi. The scenery is similar to Phang Nga and the areas here that one can climb do not fall under rulings from Nature reserves as does Phang Nga...so tempted you might be, but please refrain from this sport in Phang Nga Bay which is a National Park.
Swimming is a popular pastime in the area and although the water tends to look greenish-brown, it is clean. The colour of the water comes from the flora in the area that has fallen into the water from the mangrove waterways. If you don a pair of goggles you'll be amazed at the underwater world that will great you.
Bird Watching is another popular pastime in the area. There are a number of birds unique to the area plus many sea-eagles and Brahmany kites, that put on spectacular displays as they dive, headfirst into the bay and swoop up again, their beaks laden with fish. Hornbills also frequent the area and often these are heard before they are seen.
Fishing is a popular sport although there are no tackle rental shops in the area and it is advised that you either bring your own rod or hire a boat including fishing gear and charter it to Phang Nga for a day. One can always try ones luck at fresh-water fishing in some of the inland river systems but you may not get too many 'pan-sized fish' doing it this way, the ocean is a better bet.
Sailing There are a number of charter companies on Phuket Island that offer specific charters to Phang Nga or you can 'bareboat' charter a yacht and spend days meandering from one island to another in the calm, protected waters of the area. A wonderful way to see the area and one which the whole family, young or old will thoroughly enjoy.
